Well to be honest, urdu is not something i have great appreciation of. Neither do I know much about its literature. So to comprehend most of JP's latest masterpiece is totally out of question.
Umraao Jaan is a very good depiction of 19th century Lucknow, city of Nawab's. It's a story weaved around a courtesan's life in those times.
Though sets are not highly opulent as you would expect, but they are well crafted and able to recreate the magic of Nawabi days. Ash and Abhishek has been able to deliver their onscreen chemistry. With exception of music, JP scores maximum in reproducing the saga.
