Monsoon trip to God's own country!

It was 9.15pm that cool friday night when I entered into Bangalore City with my carry bag. Puneet, Adithya, Shinjan and Krishna were already there ready to go. Soon Ashwini joined us and we bid goodbye to hazy windy Bangalore. It was a total unplanned 2 days waiting for all of us in Kerala.
We reached Palakkad at about 6.45am welcomed by heavy pours. Krishna got a jeep for us to complete the rest of our journey. It was rather a bumpy ride with short, narrow roads adding to the agony that wet saturday morning. Puneet was more upset than others cursing the stomach. We were soon in front "KrishnaGeetha" house, our abode for next 36 hours. People refreshed and soon got into binging act. Krishna's aunt got nice idly's prepared for us. Lavan, Krishna's cousin soon join our sojourn. Lavan guided our first muddy trek to a small temple nearby located amidst watery paddy fields. It was a great relief completing our trek through those wet earthy doughs. We decided to cook lunch ourselves forced mostly by coconut oil fears. Krishna and Puneet got vegetables and groceries for our dal-chawal lunch. Everybody got into the act and we soon had hot 'turmeric' food. Trek, cooking and food was good enough to leave us dozing for the rest of the day. It rained and rained that night and we made sure that we stay indoors and have lots of fun. DumbC and cards filled our time till bed. Krishna planned our next day's itinerary meanwhile.
We got up early next day ready to capture a "betta"(hill top) nearby. Everybody except Puneet made it to the top within 8am inspite of early morning pours. Everybody got ready and had nice dosas prepared by aunt. Vehicle came and we all boarded. It was wide local cruiser. We soon were racing on narrow Kerala roads with hindi music. Soon we entered hallowed Guruvayoor town. People got into baring act with only dhotis. But soon we found ourselves in a waiting hall. Doors closed for sometime and we were made to sit. I must say this was the most difficult 1 hour in the entire journey. But thanks to everybody's patience for 'darshan'. It was wonderful time in temple after that. We had regular south indian meals in one of the pure vegetarian restaurant. Beach was calling us and we responded to the call. I just could believe everybody's enthusiasm to break into the water. It was wonderful late afternoon sun bathing all of us there. We left the beach after having tea. It was good to see more baring act. Thanks to the water. Next destination was a elephant camp just behind Guruvayoor temple. It was like OHHHH MYYYY GAAAWDDD. 64 elephants in some enclosed protected space. Soon rains came in leaving us run all over. It was a wonderful wonderful time looking at mammoths. This was the last item in our schedule. While returning back, I was just mesmerized by the beauty that this state has. It was like heaven falling onto the earth. After having dinner, we bid adieu to our hospitable host and got into the train back to Bangalore.
