A drive to Coffee 'state'

on Thursday, October 02, 2008

It was 4.15am on a dark early saturday morning when i woke up for a trip to Coorg..We took sometime before we left our flat in Marathahalli and reached Koramangala around 6am to pick our trip partners, Rakesh and Nimisha, a newly wed couple.
We soon picked our destination way after getting lost by diversion on outer ring road. We reached kadu mane, a beautiful drive-in restaurant on mysore road just before Bidadi. We had wholesome breakfast in long idlyies and dosas at around 7.15am. We raced our way to reach our next sojourn, Ranganathittu bird sanctuary, few kilometers away from Tipu's capital. The place was calm and bit sunny and we spend good time in locating flocks of birds in fairly distributed pieces of land boating away. We took good number of photographs celebrating the mood of that beautiful late morning. After having ice creams we headed our way to our next destination in Coorg. Golden Temple, a tibetan refugee camp cum large temple caught all of us with awe minutes after reaching there. It was prayer time inside and really it was great to be in and see thousands of obeisance monks dressed in red and yellow spread across the big hall. We took our lunch in a restaurant there. Also girls took sometime off to see tibetan market. The meal was okay, right enough to doze off all of us and we reached Nisargadhama in this tired mood. It was late afternoon. The place is actually an island surround by cauvery waters. We spend some good time clicking snaps and lazying around beside waters. The last part of the journey to madikeri was rough and patchy. The drive was made tough by scorching sun. Finally, we reached Raja seat just-in time to view sunset the raja's way. We took train ride in a nearby park and saw sun getting into clouds. It got cold and dark in no time. we went to a Durga temple just next to this place. Soon we found a nice homestay located in a uneven place in Subhramaniam colony. Although we took sometime, but finally decided to retire that night there. We had to travel all the way to town centre to grub ourselves in a Udupi restaurant. We slept early forced by hectic day's journey.
Next day we woke up at around 7am and took bed coffee. The morning was greeny and fresh and we soon got ready to take on another long day. We visited Omkareshwar temple, Madikeri fort and Abbi falls in quick succession to finish last lap of visits. As decided we speeded our way back to bangalore. it was hot but fast afternoon and we steered our way back to india's IT capital around 7pm ending our 500kms drive.
